Charity Catwalk Debrief-Covers that Care

Charity Catwalk Debrief-Covers that Care

Let’s de-brief…

Last night was the launch of Reconditions new charity scheme in collaboration with Lucy Jane we celebrated by putting on a charity catwalk to raise money for the scheme - Covers that Care  and another amazing charity A Bear Named Buttony.

It was the perfect way to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities and Crohns and Colitus Awareness week! (The two coinciding had to be a sign from the universe)

Covers that Care has been born from the lived experience Lucy has from getting her ostomy surgery. The scheme will be donating funky stoma bag covers along with an information booklet with top tips for life with a stoma. Everything that Lucy wished she’d had given to her post surgery. The aim is to add a little piece of joy to new #ostomates experiences post surgery and take away a bit of that fear and stigma that many feel.

The two achievements I’m most proud of from last night are:

💰We raised £1,380 for the two charities
And
✨The community we brought together in that room…
Over 100 people attended 🤯

For me this has been a huge  full circle moment, not only was it almost two years to the day since Recondition hosted its first ever event 🥹 (and looking around the room really did make me feel how far we’ve come) but also two of our focus group were on the runway which felt so special. But also Holly Robson  was raking in the donations as our resident bar tender! She helped pull off our first ever event and has been there every time to offer her help and support 🥰

If you’re reading this and wishing you’d had the chance to be involved… its not too late, you can still donate to Covers That Care through our website with our Pay it Forward option that I’ll link below, or if you have a stoma yourself maybe you want to grab one of our designs ready for the Christmas period 🥳

On Monday me and Lucy will be doing an Instagram live to talk about the scheme if you want to know more make sure you’re following us at @recondition.mcr for the live and all the pictures from the event!

Extra thanks to all those who helped out we couldn’t have pulled it off without all of you pitching in!
